Citrix Receiver Tech Preview Make Chromebooks More Business Friendly

by arupchou on August 16, 2011

While Chromebooks may have made their mark on many users, business enterprises may not find the devices friendly enough Citrix Receiver Tech Previewbecause of their limited functionality. However, it seems that Citrix is all set to make Chromebooks more business friendly. Citrix has come up with an application in the Chrome web store which offers users access to windows applications and desktop.

The application known as Citrix Receiver Tech Preview allows Chromebook users to run apps and desktops in the data center through a free client app for enterprises already running Citrix virtualization.

Features Of Citrix Receiver Tech Preview

The application allows users to access apps and windows desktops from their Chromebook regardless of where they are. It also has the ability to keep your information on the servers of your provider as against your notebook. However, users need to ask their help desk for the URL in order to set up Receiver before they can use it.

One thing to note is that while many apps in the Chrome Web Store will run on Chromebooks and on Chrome browser on Mac or Windows PC, this particular application will run only on Chrome OS. I personally feel that this may not enough to lure business users to shift from Windows to Chrome OS, but it does strengthen desires for those who are willing to shift to Chrome OS.

The application can be downloaded for free from Chrome Web Store. To download the application, click here.

I though the Chromobooks was a great idea, but, now that Google is dealing to acquired Motorola, base also in the economy and the competitions, I think Google should concentrate in the PC and Lap-tops, the Books are find the tablets Okay, but as the wise man said I don’t think books or tablets are going to replace Lap-tops, or desk tops, and then there is Chromium, plus HP already decide to do just That, so come on Google, let us go straight forward from now….., forward.
