After Samsung Series 5 Chromebooks, it is the turn of another notebook equipped with Google’s Chrome OS to hit the markets. Acer, another vendor identified by Google to manufacture devices equipped with the Chrome OS has started shipping its Chrome OS notebooks. Acer’s AC700 Wi-Fi notebooks are being shipped in the United States. Though the notebook was initially scheduled to be launched in June along with that of Samsung Series 5 Chromebooks , but because of some odd reasons it was delayed.
Acer AC700 Cheaper Than Samsung’s Model
Acer’s AC700 notebook is cheaper than Samsung’s Wi-Fi model, but most of the features and specs of the notebook are similar to that of Samsung’s model. While Samsung’s Wi-Fi version of the Chromebook is priced at $429, Acer has priced its model at $ 349.
Acer AC700 is equipped with 1.66 GHz Intel Atom N570 dual core processor along with 2GB RAM and 16GB solid state disk, which is similar to the Samsung models. However, the difference is in the size of the screen. While Samsung’s model sports a 12.1 inch screen, Acer’s AC700 sports a 11.6 inches display. Acer AC700 boasts of a full-sized keyboard and it is expected that Acer will soon introduce the 3G capable version of the notebook with 100 MB of free data per month from Verizon Wireless.
