Well 24 hours after the release of Google Chrome, Clicky has it at just under 3% market share which is quite an achievement for a 1 day old web browser. This data has been gleamed from 45,000 unique websites running the GetClicky statistics so it represents a fairly decent sample size.
This is how the current browser Market Share is sitting in comparison:

Chrome is a good browser, but come on… How is anyone going to be able to accurately track that number in less than a day. Also, I suspect Firefox went down by the same number, so is it really such an a achievement.
Ed - You’re right, accurately judging the exact market share is only possible if you have an extensive sample of data. 45,000 websites is quite small in the overall scheme of things, however it’s a sample all the same and Chrome was being used by 2.6% of visitors to those websites.
As for it being an achievement, well yes it is. Due to the speed and some of the unique aspects of Chrome people are exploring it to see what makes it tick. This is a good thing for everyone, if the limits of a web browser keep getting pushed everyone using the web will have a better experience.
Thank you for telling me so many useful things
