A new controversy has surrounded Google just when it is about to launch its Chromebooks with Acer and Samsung as partners. ISYS
technologies, which owns Xi3 Corporation has claimed that Google has breached with its trademark by using the name “Chromebook” and has asked an Utah court to stop Google and its partners from launching their notebooks.
It is to be noted that last month Xi3 Corporation had come up with ChromiumPC, a desktop computer which runs on Chrome OS. While ISYS had attempted to trademark the device last year, Google came up with the objection that the name was very much similar to Chromium OS.
Chromebook Too Similar To Chromium PC
ISYS argues that the Chromebook name sounds very similar to ChromiumPC mark. In its suit ISYS says that Google has no right to the Chromium name and that Chromebook names are pretty much similar to Chromium PC which is causing damage and harm to ISYS. Meanwhile, Google has declined to comment on the lawsuit. The controversy is sure to further create an interest among users regarding the Chromebooks.
