Search engine giant Google has patched seven bugs in Chrome on Tuesday thereby providing second security update
of the browser this month. All the bugs fixed were in Chrome 12.0.742.112 and were rated “high”. Several mechanism of Chrome received patches which included the browser’s V8 JavaScript engine, HTML parsers and CSS. It is to be noted that in the beginning of June Google patched 15 bugs in Chrome 12.
Bugs Fixed
3 out of the bugs fixed were identified as “use-after-free” bugs which can be used by attackers to inject attack code. Apart from the flaws accounted by researchers, Chrome 12.0.742.112 is also equipped with a updated version of Flash. As a part of the Chromium security reward program, Google has paid $ 6000 in reward for 3 researchers.
Notably Google’s development teams are working hard on the next couple of versions of Chrome, Chrome 13 and Chrome 14. While Chrome 13 is in beta stage, Chrome 14 dev-channel was updated earlier this week.
