Today one of our forum members, honeytech, released a new extension for google chrome called the Gtalk Extension. The extension as the name suggests adds a button to your toolstrip of Google Chrome and when clicked upon opens a new small window which asks you to put your Google Account username and password and you can start to chat immediately.
Please Note: If you dont have a Google Account yet, can create one and enjoy the extension.
Features of GTalk Extension:
- No need to install the Gtalk Messenger
- Chat directly from your Google Chrome Browser
- Safe & Secure as it uses Google Gadgets

Installation & Support
Clicking on the above downlink link on your latest Google Chrome Dev version will automatically install the extension. Since extensions are not yet supported for stable or beta users, you would be required to switch to the dev channel in order to install the extension and use the command line ––enable-extensions in your google chrome shortcut target.
For any troubleshooting, support, ideas, suggestions, improvements and updates on the extension please go to Gtalk Support Thread.

Extensions don’t show up for me when I first open Gmail and Reader using their separate application shortcuts, then open a chrome window. If I just open a Chrome window alone, extensions are there. Anyone know how to fix this?
You have to apply the –enable-extensions to chrome.exe itself to get it to work on every new shortcut you make.
Read here on how to do it. Hope it helps!
BTW, the GTalk extension looks really useful. I’ll try it right now!
I have this url blocked by network admin: http://talkgadget.google.com/talkgadget/popout
