Open in Chrome Firefox Extension
One Firefox extension many people use is IE View which enables you to open or view pages in IE, then later an IE View Lite version was released by Grayson Mixon.
Well this handy ‘Open in Chrome’ addon for Firefox is a tweak of IE View Lite which essentially allows you to do the same as the original but for Google Chrome instead. It also allows you to configure sites to always open in Google Chrome, right click links and open in Chrome as well as adds a toolbar button.
This is very useful if you are browsing with FireFox and want to open a URL in Google Chrome to utilize the Incognito mode, or just want to see how a particual page renders.
Installation:
#1 Download
#2 Drag the .xpi to your FireFox window and restart Firefox for the addon to take effect
#3 Hit the Browse button and navigate to Tools >> Addons >> Open in Google Chrome then select Options and the following window will appear:
#4 Browse to your Chrome.exe file which can be found in the following locations:
Windows XP
C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\Application\
Windows Vista
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\
Note: You will need to change USERNAME in the above paths depending on your username
#5 Once you have selected the path to your chrome.exe you can setup some sites to always open in Google Chrome, as you can see here i have chosen Chromeplugins.org
You are done and as you can see we now have a Chrome button, mines next to my Google Earth button:

Also our right click context menu has the option to open in Google Chrome just like open in IE:

Cool extension. Now I’m using Firefox just as a browser dispatcher for switching between Chrome, FF and IE
first of all, thanks for the info. I have a little question after i installed the plug in whenever try to load a page that i included on the list to always open with chrome. Firefox open a new chrome window, doest not open embedded like the ie tab plug in is that correct??
Ninoska - Yes that is correct, it will launch the Chrome browser with the page you requested loaded in a Chrome tab. Same when you use “Right Click >> Open Link in Google Chrome”
It doesn’t embed the Chrome Tab inside FireFox like the IE View does, so this is mainly a time saver so you don’t need to manually start up Chrome then navigate to the URL you want to open.
Hi, there is another extension called Chrome View which auto-detects the chrome location … it can be downloaded on https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/8740.
Thank you, Jack! Extension from here unfortunatelly does not work on my FF because of some diacritical marks in ‘USERNAME’. The addon you posted works flawlessly!
Or you could just drag the tab from Firefox over the Chrome….
Great addon. Now I need something to do the reverse. Because I mainly use chrome but sometimes I page won’t load correctly and button sending it to ff would be great.
Where’s the link to the extension?
Nevermind, I found it at the end of the article.

Here are links to another Firefox addon “PlayLink” that will not only load a Firefox page into Chrome, but lots of other things as well. The PlayLink addon can even open the page in Chrome, optionally, as a Chrome Application Window.

Blimey! I read through the above comments, now I feel like a rabbit with too many bolt holes and who is now worried that some may be points of no return. I promised my son that I would not try any more experiments, at least until the new year, so I will just sit here, enjoy Christmas and watch to see what happens.
