Save, Load, Manage Sessions On Google Chrome
Google Chrome is getting improvements with every update and so is its extension’s system. A developer at our forum twinsen, released a very handy addon/plugin for Chrome on our forum, Session Saver. It is basically a session manager which lets you save, manage and reload multiple sessions in Google Chrome.
Session Saver Features
- Saves All the open tabs accross all Google Chrome Windows
- Save Multiple Sessions and name them as you want
- Loads all the urls from the saved session in current window in different tabs
- View urls in a saved session prior to opening it
Once installed, the extension adds a small “save” icon to your browser toolstrip.
Clicking on it opens a small extension pop-up window, where you can save the existing tabs as a new session, or load a previously saved session. When you save a new sesssion, all the tabs which are opened at that time would be saved.

If you want to see what tabs are stored a particular session profile, you can do so by clicking on “ShowUrls”, it uses Chrome Sticky Notes Extension to show you the urls of the tabs stored in different sessions. Please click on the link to download sticky notes extension.

This is the first instance when a functionality of an extension is coordinated by another extension in Google Chrome. So nice signs for the future extensions developement!!

Hey… I really am glad someone has created this extension. Since I left Firefox for Chrome I have missed only TWO pieces of funcionality: The ability to mouse gesture to zoom images and the ability to save certain sessions separately.
Sadly… I’m getting an error when I try to install this extension even though I’ve installed the sticky notes app.

Love to see a fix and try this out! Thanks!
@arsh -> thank you for your comment, as you might know yesterday Chomr Dev got updated to 4.0.201.1 and as a result a few of the extensions were broken. However, please try again the extension has been updated to work with the latest dev build 4.0.201.1
If any problem persists (i doubt) then refer to the support thread mentioned above.
So I have to use it with the Dev build? It won’t work with the current Beta version anymore? Because I’m currently running the Beta release and I just updated to this release yesterday actually… this was the first extension I tried to install after the Sticky Notes one which I only installed to use WITH this one. heh.
Sorry… do I need to upgrade to Dev build to use this then? Because yes, it’s currently giving that error on the Beta build downloaded last night.
@arsh -> yeah correct.. Extensions are not yet supported in Beta officially. So its kind of a tricky situation. On beta builds only themes work, and extensions dont work normally yet. So you do need to switch to dev build.
Well dev build is pretty stable so dont worry about crashes and all.
Alright. I’ll go ahead and upgrade to the Dev and report back to let you know if it works after that. Thanks for clarifying. I’m dense at best at this hour.
I really want to help with development in Chrome /somehow/ anyway so I guess running the Dev build and bug reporting is a start, eh?
Ahh well you can say its a start.. You can do one thing – become an extension and theme tester for our Google Chrome Forum Community..

We got a lot of able guys around there who can help you with everything you need..
Excellent!!
I have installed the Dev version and now the extension installs perfectly!
Thanks so much! I have wished for this feature in Chrome since I first swapped from Firefox.
Finally I can organize my research and projects again without having to keep my browsers open all the time!
Well I have already registered for the site you linked me because I was trying to get more info and help out and learn more about Chrome’s current new features…
So how do I offer to be a tester? What part of that forum should I find that info in? I’d be happy to do that.
Thanks a lot for directing me. Honestly, I just watched the Wave demo video last night and I’ve been fired up about Google all night… I’m ready to help because I really feel like Google is creating REAL progress with the information technology that I adore as a nerd.
Thing is I’m more of an art nerd than a coding nerd… so my abilities lie more in design. I /am/ planning on trying my hand at themes though.
Where’s the source code?
can anyone point me to where i can get help? a group, info, whatever. i installed cooliris on chrome dev build. i had other extensions working fine. but this one broke chrome. crash crashcrash. i uninstalled it and also uninstalled the greasemonkey stuff. reinstalling chrome didn’t fix! i don’t want to have to reinstall my whole os X and all the apps i’ve added (but i will if i must).
i’m only 5 months into using mac, so i don’t know much. i tried to delete all related files using spotlight to find things related to greasemonkey, chrome, etc. i deleted chrome via “trash app” which does a decent job itself of finding the associated files.
i reinstalled chrome twice.
i looked at the crash log but you know, it didn’t tell me much because i’m not sure what exactly i’m looking for. i could google each and every crash thread meaning but i don’t think that will help. (i was hoping to see filenames/file paths so i could remove the offenders).
anyone? (i’ll check back here in an hour or so)
