We have covered about the various video downloader extensions for Google Chrome earlier and got a good response from users. However, most of those extensions were mostly based on Youtube and did not supported other popular video sharing sites, until i came across this one.
Video Downloader For Chrome – Download From Multiple Sites
Video Downloader For All Sites is a neatly made extension which integrates seamlessly with your Google Chrome browser. The whole process of getting the download link from various popular video sharing sites is very quick and neat with minimal issues.
Once the extension installs, you get a nice browser action icon as is now a trademark of Google Chrome, clicking on the icon opens a small box in the browser itself which asks you to provide the URL of the video which you want to download. Once its supplied, the extension gets the download link from the site and provides you with a couple of video format in which one may download the file (as seen in the screenshot).
As of now, the extension supports a lot of popular video sharing sites such as Youtube, Dailymotion, Metacafe, Vimeo, Blip, Veoh, Myspace, Google Video, Sevenload, Flickr, Revver, etc.
The extension is still in its development phase, so expect a lot of improvements from the developer.

I miss something like file automatic naming
does not work on incognito mode.
Is there anyway I can download videos on some links that are not from the mentioned standard video sites.
Currently, I am using firefox plugins, which automatically detect all videos in current page/link and help me to select which one to download.
I am eager to know if this plugin or nay chrome plugin can do the same. Surely, this works with youtube, But I am not able to download many videos in several other sites using this plugin.
Currently, the supported site is limited, unfortunately. In the future will try to add more supporting sites.

i really like downloadhelper for firefox, i wish there was an equivalent for it in chrome. it was much simpler to use than video downloader, that being said, video downloader seems to be very sufficient, just not as user friendly.

you can also use javascript in a bookmark form to get stuff from youtube. here is how: make a new bookmark, and use this for the url to get mp4 version of the video “javascript:window.location.href = ‘http://youtube.com/get_video?video_id=’ + swfArgs['video_id']+ “&fmt=18″ + “&l=” + swfArgs['l'] + “&sk=” + swfArgs['sk'] + ‘&fmt_map’ + swfArgs['fmt_map'] + ‘&t=’ + swfArgs['t'];”
and for the flv version “javascript:window.location.href = ‘http://youtube.com/get_video?video_id=’ + swfArgs['video_id']+ “&l=” + swfArgs['l'] + “&sk=” + swfArgs['sk'] + ‘&fmt_map’ + swfArgs['fmt_map'] + ‘&t=’ + swfArgs['t'];” hope this helps!

Video downloader functionality is still poor. Extension for firefox enables me download any video from any site. I would appreciate same functionality on chrome, in fact, this one addon still keeps me with firefox…

All right bruce right on the money!!!! I miss my video download helper. im forced to use chrome because my firefox keeps crashing. I like chrome dont get me wrong. but that one extension separates them both. I need it asap guys!!!. Thanks for listening

@bruce, @tery … the extension is working now. You have to upgrade manually and have java enabled. That’s all.
It doesn’t work with my Chrome 4.1.249.1064 (45376).
Just draws a snake from blues balls and say something like “You need restart your browser…”.
I restarted browser but without any success.

This no longer works on Youtube. Every time I try to download something, I get a “Forbidden” message saying I don’t have permission to access it.

Just always loads something called “pussylane” porn for every site I try to use it on. No box for entering any URL. Doesn’t work.

hey guys u can download videos from any sites through orbit downloader but there is one error on this….it doesn’t works on google chrome..so it is the main problem otherwise its the best one to download any videos that u desires….

To the Developers, it’s there anyway to make this extension to working like Video Download Helper in firefox browser. Because it is make sense that the extension should have capability to grab any video links of any web sites. It shouldn’t limit or depends on some web sites.

Doesn’t work. When I try to enter the URL of the video some sponsored link thing keep coming up then when something else finally happened it like browsed to some website or something. Anyway didn’t remotely work like described in the instructions.
The official version on the Chrome extensions site may have been hijacked. Does not do ANYTHING to download a video. Instead, the popup window shows an advertisement for the domain “pussylane”. Sorry guys. Where’s the real version?

Firefox rarely gives me problems however I hoped to make Chrome a better back up for it, and was hoping to find a video down loader for Chrome that’s comparable to video downloader for Firefox, respectfully this isn’t it.
I have been using this chrome video downloader extension for a while. It real helped me a lot. I love it much.
I’m getting the pussylane ad, too. Teach your shills some better English; I most certainly do not love it much.
