by S.Roy on July 24, 2013

Google Chrome 28 is out and the version has reportedly come with as many as 17 flaws taken care of by developers. The flaws fixed include one critical bug and three high-risk vulnerabilities.

The bounty winner for this version is a developer named Andrey Labunets, who has managed to bag a special monetary award of $21,500. The only critical flaw in this version is a use-after-free vulnerability in network sockets. It has been reported by Collin Payne. Labunets has spotted three flaws. The other monetary rewards ranged from $500 to $6267.4 in amount, and were won by other people.

Antoine Delignat-Lavaud and Karthikeyan Bhargavan, Eric Rescorla, “danguafer”, “miaubiz”, Dev Akhawe, Aki Helin, Collin Jackson, Atte Kettunen and also Felix Groebert of Google Security Team are the other individuals who spotted the rest of the flaws.

In the last one year, Google has constantly and consistently managed to step up the security issues of its Chrome browser as well as OS. It has even handed over big sums to hackers and developers who have helped them spot potential vulnerabilities in their products.
