New Tab Page Revamped In Chrome 15, Chrome 16 Pushed To Dev Channel

After releasing stable version 14 of its Chrome browser, Google has rolled out Chrome 15 Beta for Windows, Mac and Linux. The Google Chromemajor change witnessed in Chrome 15 Beta is the “New Tab” Page. The New Tab page makes it easier to manage bookmarks, applications and most visited sites. The changes in the New Tab represents Chrome’s first visual refresh.

New Page breaks Chrome Web Applications, Bookmarks and Most Visited into three different sections. Not only this, it also allows you to flip through them with arrows on left and right side along with links at the bottom of the page. In a blog post, software engineer Evan Stade has given tips as to how users can use the new Tab page.

Other Features In Chrome 15 Beta

Apart from it, there are several other features in Chrome 15 beta. It also features an intuitive organizational features which allow users to drag items from any of the three pages to the bottom bar along with creation of custom categories to keep them in an organized manner. Users can also mix and match items in custom category.

Sorry to say the new tab page is rubbish! The frames on the most visited tiles look a lot worse than the current version 14’s and that gradient is just awful!
Why do we need to big tiles to organise bookmarks? This really does not seem like “google standard” design.
I also think the switching between recent pages and apps work a hell of a lot better in version 14, seems like the UI is getting geared towards touch input….not a fan.

I couldn’t agree more with you Dubya. I changed back to beta to avoid this new feature. Now I suppose I have to switch again back to stable.
The bookmarks bar was far more functional.
I am now using the Speed Dial extension to have this functionality again…
