Default Ajax page call

Ive noticed something, which only happens in chrome, and not all the time...

I have a script which retrieves a set of sizes from a database, according to the colour selected - it then uses the innerHTML call to populate a div with the size information... however, sometimes instead of retrieving the responseText from my javascript httpURLRequest, it loads another instance of the page within that div, which obviously looks crazy...

anyone got a work around?
Is this because im using innerHTML?
