Works ok for me in 3.0.190.4.
I had first to download a file, such as a JPG, and click "always open files of this type" from the download box in lower left corner of screen. The next time a JPG was downloaded it opened.
You can clear the settings in Options/Under the Hood - but all file types are cleared. I see no selectivity if you have elected to always open more than one file type.
The file must first be download and saved to disk. I do not think you can simply open a file without first downloading and saving it.
I do not believe Chrome will offer the "always open" option for EXE, COM, BAT and maybe other extensions for safety purposes.
It auto-opens my torrent files just fine. What file-types are you having a problem with?
You can edit what Chrome opens individually if you open up the "Preferences" file (located in User Data/Default) and scroll down to
You will then see a list of file-types set to auto-open next to "extensions_to_open":. They will be in quotes and separated by a colon.Code:"download": {
You can manually add-in whatever file-types you want (or remove ones you don't) but even if you add a protected extension (exe for example) it still won't auto-open.

I'm sure this will be obvious once I am told, but:
Where does one find Preferences and User Data/Default?
Partially taken from: Google Chrome FAQ
"Preferences" is a file in this folder that you can open with Notepad to view/edit.
Thanks. Wow, there is enough there to get me into trouble big time))
It worked like a charm couple of version ago with rar's zip's and torrent's but now it doesn't. I tried clearing the auto open settings from the preference and also manually by editing the Preferences file but no luck again... I'm currently using 3.0.192 (19803)
