Default chrome won't load webpages while i'm in a game

i love chrome but i am having trouble.

i have the latest version, and i'm on windows xp.

if i'm not playing a game, it works great. i have nothing to complain about. web pages load normally.

however, if i'm playing a game, (Dragon Age or Dawn of War 2) and i alt+tab out of the game to check email, look something up or what ever, it has trouble loading websites. i try to go to one of my bookmarks or do a search and nothing loads. the little symbol at the tab isn't even spinning like it's trying to load. it's like it isnt even registering that i'm trying to go to a website. it will eventually go after like a minute or two before it blinks to the web page i tried to go to. once i exit the game, web pages load normally again.

any help would be greatly appreciated

@pablorce; Even on a very powerful machine a year or so ago I used to either run a game, or use the Internet, never both. In case you don't know, switching a game to other apps and back makes a right mess in the background; swap file, memory, etc. I've never seen a version of Windows which actually handles such things well.

Windows doesn't even multi-task properly, which I remember a friend showing me once on a Commodore Amiga. The Amiga could play a beefy game, copy a stack of files from one hard drive to another, and format three floppies in chained drives at the same time, without so much as a stutter. We did something similar on Windows, but with fewer tasks - it died.

@Michael3185: Correction - Windows XP don't multi-task properly. I've never had any problems running couple peaces of demanding software at the same time in Vista/7.
Any way I've seen similar problem when running Cabal Online in Vista/7 - chrome don't crash but it just don't load sites. I guess it's something about the way the game connect to the Internet (I'm playing Dragon Age off-line and have no problem using Chrome at the same time).
