I'm having a strange issue, everytime I start Chrome and the process isn't on memory yet, the other tasks, including windows, freeze for about 30 seconds up to 1 minute, I can't open windows start menu neither click on anywhere else on the screen, only Chrome works during this brief lock-up.

Just tried to uninstall Chrome (was using beta 4.x), now using 3.0.195.21

System specs are

Core i7 processor
6 GB RAM
Nvidia graphics card (gtx 295)
Windows 7 64-bit build 7600 (RTM)

Is that a known issue?

does Chrome crash everytime it starts ?
if it does, try clearing the cache;

if it still crashes, backup bookmarks, preferences and other files
remove the contents of the Chrome data (keep them somewhere temporary)
and start Chrome
if it works and doesn't crashes, I think the folder is corrupted

Thanks sulasno. Chrome don't crash, just the entire system (besides Chrome) freezes. Already tried to clear all data including cache, but didn't deleted the chrome data folder. I'll try and update when I got a chance to do it.

Ok, let's see what happened:

1- clear cache: system still freezing
2- clear entire google chrome user data folder: same
3- uninstall chrome, reboot, reinstall latest stable version: same
4- uninstall MS security essentials, reboot: same.
5- uninstall chrome, reboot, reinstall latest stable version: same
6- install new video nvidia graphics card driver: issue is gone! no more freezing!

Conclusion: it looks like nvidia graphics driver (190.62 WHQL) was the culprint. But why? Big mistery!
