This is the biggest problem that I've encountered with Chrome, limited file support. The solution requires an app to play .wmv files. Keep an eye open in the Chrome Webstore, and an app may show up in the near future. I have a similar problem because I receive graphics and illustrations as email attachments on a daily basis in .zip and .igs formats which I cannot open. My voicemail forwards phone messages to my email as a .wmv files, which I cannot open either. I think building support for these file extensions should be a priority.

Ok, I see this all over and this is the first search that popped up in google so I thought I'd post here. I have Nero installed so it took over WMV files. I installed the WMP link everyone refers you too etc to no avale. Finally I just opened "MyComputer" folder to get to file association options. Click tools, click folder options, click file types and see what WMV is associated with. In my case it was Nero. I have VLC installed so I associated it with VLC. Works great now! If you have installed the WMP plugin then associate with WMP etc.

Hmm, seems like WMP went ahead and took over the association through Chrome. Also seems like WMP plugin was causing audio to skip on scroll in Chrome. Uninstalled and fine now. Back to no WMV for now.
