Thread: Incognito Mode Showing Bookmarks Bar (After Ctrl+B)

As someone who doesn't use Incognito mode (don't have a need to hide anything from anyone - lmao) I don't know if this is a known issue or not ...

I don't have the bookmark bar visible when I'm in normal mode (I use Stamga's Aero white)...

Tonight I was showing a friend Chrome and what it was I liked about it and to complete the demo I opened an Incognito window.

I was surprised to see the bookmark bar ...

However it was not my normal Aero theme, it was the default blue but it did have my folders and bookmarklets on it ...

Ctrl+B got my Aero Bookmarks bar, Ctrl+B again (which should hide the Bookmarks bar) gets me back to the default Bookmarks bar ...

Ctrl+B in normal mode functions as it should do ...

It seems as if some kind of overlay isn't working (leave it to you teckies to explain it)

Its not causing me any problems, just interested to see if anyone else has the problem ...

are you sure that was the bookmarks bar and not the bar in the new tab page?
as for me, the bookmars bar disappears ok in both modes, and it even does so simultaneously in all of the windows o_O

Are you using a custom theme or the default theme?

I'm using Stamga's Black theme and here's what it looks like, with bookmark bar showing, when I open an incognito window:



And if I hit Ctrl+B, this is what I get:



I have noticed that it does this with internal chrome pages it seems, although I've only tested it with the incognito page and the new tab page. If you navigate to any other website in the incognito window you'll get the expected results. I tested this in my VM with default theme and it's not strictly an incognito bug. I haven't the time currently to browse the bug reports to see if it's listed but if someone else wants to I'm sure it's there. Note that I've seen this issue for quite a few versions now.

And don't laugh at my bookmarklets. I keep them there because they seemed rather useful and I never show the bookmark bar.

Its exactly the same result as yours ...

As I said it's not a problem to me, just wasn't expecting it ...

its not a bug, this is how it should work. the blue bokmarks bar appears on the new tab page if you havent got the normal bookmarks bar enabled. and its blue, because the colors are not written in the default.dll file. maybe crx themes would fix this issue, havent tested it yet.

Surely you either have a bookmarks bar or you don't ...
