    Default Javascript BUG in popup windows (alert and confirm not working)

    Hi.

    I belive I found a bug when using javascript in Popup windows.

    I open a new window by clicking a link that uses window.open to open the new window.

    The newly opened window has one javascript function and a button.

    If I click the button in the popup after the popup has been opened using the window.open then the button (javascript) does not work.

    If I just open the same window by typing the URL in the address field then the javascript work as it should.

    Tested in Chrome version 0.3.154.9

    Test using attached documents (zipped):
    Load the start-chrome-popup.htm first and follow instructions for how to reproduce:
    start-chrome-popup.htm
    test-chrome-popup.htm

    Hi...
    Forgot to change a filename in start-chrome-popup.htm where I used
    test-chrome-popup.php instead of test-chrome-popup.htm in the window.open statement.
    Attached a new corrected zip.

    Also, if there is a workaround for this bug in current version of Chrome then please
    let me know.

    Hi again.

    Found something more specific today.
    Looks like the problem is with alert() and confirm() not working properly in popup
    windows opened using window.open()

    Looks like javascript where alert and confirm are not used, are working, as the new
    test-files show.

    Alert does not show, and confirm does not show any question and default to Cancel.
    This works normally though, if the page is opened by entering the address in the
    address field of the browser.

    Hope this can be fixed ASAP since it is a CRITICAL BUG that affects many websites.

    I just ran into the same exact problem in an application I am working on. Did a search and found this thread right away.

    maybe Google thought it would be clever to not allow some Javascript in windows opened by window.open() to stop things like infinite loops of pop up windows?

    I was a fan of Google chrome..

    Patch it quickly!

    Same problem! I'm being hammered by clients who complain their sites aren't working in Chrome!

    The window.open script works fine, but the onblur script isn't recognised by Chrome. It's meant to ensure that the popup disappears when focus is lost. Instead, clicking on the original window just sends the popup to the back and because it hasn't been closed, none of the other links work.

    This is the script...

    <body onblur="self.close();">

    It works on every other browser, so why not Chrome?

    As GoHard points out, this is a critical fault and will cause a lot of problems.

    And if anyone has a script that will work in Chrome, post it! Please!!!
