Lag report courtesy of Chrome's resource tracker!
It seems pretty random what files lag on loading here, but it's usually scripts and css files.
One time vbulletin_post_loader.js took me 41 seconds to load it! This last time it only took 1ms.
It seems like depreciated.css and custom.css usually take about 10 seconds. Sometimes they're in the milliseconds but when they lag they lag together.

http://www.chromeplugins.org/google/...ient_tcat2.gif took nearly TWO MINUTES to load. But it seems like it's caching or something cause it's not in the resource list anymore.

ERRORS:
404s (I'd suggest you upload an image to these places since 404s can lag people quite a bit!):

So really it mostly seems random, probably a traffic thing. The most I can suggest is that you fix the 404s and let it cache all the images (like smilies, bookmark icons, post editor icons, the rating things and etc.)
Basically the only thing I'd say not to cache would be avatars.
Currently it seems set to do conditional GETs which for things like this seems pretty useless. You can set them to expire in a few days if you're worried about theme changes not updating.

If anyone else is smarter about servers and have suggestions from what they've seen about speeding things up I'd say throw them in here too. But maybe he doesn't wanna hear them I dunno. >__>

Proxomitron is great for that....changes the header so things cache and on top of that I have a filter to cache all the little image files and css locally....does help

Why is this the only forum (unless you're using dial up) that hangs forever while loading? I haven't seen this since my Windows 95, 56kb dial up surfing days.

Yeah dam shame that, unfortunately the author died (long time ago) and the source was sold.
I read somewhere on people getting it to work with wine.

...this is an open source version that someone (in 2005, look in the help forum) got to compile on linux...crashed like nuts on windows (how the author thinks its stable is beyond me) but maybe youll have some luck.
Plus I cant remember if its got the local option....the filter I use checks any Get headers for a file thats in my list and if its there then redirects it to a file stored locally....wouldnt be suprised if theres another way of doing the same thing on linux, linux allways has so many possibilities (its just knowing them, thing does my head in).

I used to say (and I am still saying): We have the fasted browser and the slowest forum to talk about it..

I don't really think anyone is attempting to fix this problem. You remember, the slowness one? My last post on this was in February. It is now the 3rd week in May. Maybe Google could intervene and donate a new set up.

Haven't been having any problems with it recently.
Seems kinda random. Might be that I blocked a bunch of ad services that were hanging pages in my hosts file though.
