This is a discussion on Suggestions Needed About Sub-Forums (IMPORTANT MUST SEE) within the Chrome Central section, part of the Chrome Forum News category: Maybe 3 types of plugin sub-forums: Plugin Development - Proof of Concept type stuff (like you mentioned), people requesting help ...

Maybe 3 types of plugin sub-forums:

Plugin Development - Proof of Concept type stuff (like you mentioned), people requesting help with code, etc

Plugin Releases - This would depend on whether users are eventually able to upload their stuff to the site. Most of the members have already started their own release thread and update it when new versions are released. This would be closely moderated.

Plugin Troubleshooting = This is where that common visitor will ask for help (different than someone asking for help in creating/modifying a plugin). Here we could also closely moderate 1 topic per plugin if necessary.

    hi,

the main section on Chrome Plugins forum section would be actually only for "finished products", ie for working Chrome Plugins/Extensions, the other posts which you are seeing right now over there would be moved to appropriate sections, ie in the Chrome Extensions Development section which i just created.

Plugin Troubleshooting, this would be a nice addition.. thanks for your suggesstion.

I would like to pin-point the difference between plugins and extensions !!!
This discussion is very confusing to me

    In my eyes:

Extensions: Adsweep / Aniweather / CustomNewTab
Plug-ins: Adobe Acrobat / Google update / Shockwave

"about: plugins" and "chrome://extensions"/ shows just that.

I think it is important to have our syntax correct.

Now that we have the new sub forums, it's time for a clean-up! :]

That's very true. This also reminds me, is that forum supposed to be intended for extensions, actual plugins, bookmarklets, and user scripts? If so it could probably use a mention in the forum's description.

Maybe one thing I would change is to put the 'Chrome Forum News' section up to the top, put 'General Chat' into the 'Chrome Chat' section and rename the 'Chrome Chat' section to 'Chat' or 'Discussions'...

Hello guys, as you may have seen we have implemented some changes on the forums. Though the Chrome Plugins section is still a bit topsy-turby. There is not a section there which has only extensions/plugins thread which are released.

I was contemplating to have a Plugins Release section, but that would actually be a very problematic job, since we already have got quite a few extensions released.

I was also thinking of putting down specific guidelines for posting New Extensions in our section, which are called posting guidelines. This could be also implemented for Chrome Themes section..

Let me know your thoughts. And if anyone can come up with such posting guidelines for each of the forum sections.

    Thanks

Guidelines are good. Perhaps some of the developers here can put together a draft of what information is needed when posting a new extension/user script.

    Uhhh...all I can think of is the requirement for a working link. ^^;
Perhaps the title should say if it's a thread for a release if so, too?

By the way, Chrome, if you need any adjustments on the uploader script, I'm open to PMs.
