Back to the original theme ....

The lack of activity (imo) is due to the fact that Chrome has 'come of age' ...

With the advent of version 4 in The Stable channel Google has finally gotten Chrome into the mainstream of Browsers, competing on an equal footing with all of the others ...

Over the last twelve months this forum has been at the forefront of developments for Chrome, where a considerable number of contributors were on The Dev channel developing extensions and themes in abundance ...

At the time, this forum was the only place to 'grandstand' these developments ...

It was also the only real place to get help and advice with problems and issues ...

The reality now is that extensions and themes are on the official Google site and that we've probably sorted most of the issues with Chrome through being 'brave' enough to use the Dev channel all these months and help our fellow contributors with problems as they have arisen...

For all of us 'old' contributors, our legacy is a forum where hopefully they can get the answers they are looking for; I don't think there is anything that we haven't sorted out at one time or another ...

I think it is fair to say most of us were Windows or XP users and the challenge for the forum now is to have the same success with an ever growing population of Linux and Mac users ...

So the 'gauntlet' is thrown down to the new 'breed' of Chrome users ...

You've got a hard act to follow ;-)

Speaking as a new member, I was attracted to sign up as there seemed to be a lot of discussion on extensions and all things Chrome. However now it seems apparent that very few of these discussions are active, or even with any replies, which doesn't do the best in encouraging me to start new discussions or contribute to old and dead ones.

In short, what's here is very interesting and useful, it's just that it doesn't seem to be added to that often.

Edit - heck, I've been browsing for a month but this is my first post

    @Jack ....

It is unfortunate, but you are about 6 months too late for the party !!!

The height of development for both extensions and themes in terms of the experimental stages of Chrome was from about June of last year ...

At that time most of the serious contributors on this forum (and for that matter for Chrome) were on the developer channel ...

With regular weekly updates (some times as many as two) Chrome came on in 'leaps and bounds'...

A lot was learnt by all concerned (in an extremely short space of time); it certainly was an exciting time to be involved !!

Now, as you can see from my signature, I've reverted back to the Stable channel, predominantly because there are no challenges left (for me anyway) ...

Keep trawling the forum, you will find a wealth of expertise and experience here and probably the answer to any questions you may have (especially Windows and XP) ...

Just be aware that not every solution for Chrome has to be an extension, if you want an alternative solution for Ad Blocking can I suggest you visit this thread about using a Proxy server (Blocking ads and hiding page elements) ...

It's also a good explanation of the different types of Ad Blocking available ...

One of my personal favourites has been my search for the 'Perfect Portable Chrome' and there's been others along the way ...

The last challenge for Google is to get the Linux and Mac versions up to the level we now enjoy with the Windows versions ...

Enjoy yourself at the forum; more importantly enjoy using Chrome ...

I'll pop in every now and again to see how things are progressing ;-)

I was going to post it once my V2 gets released.. but I seemed to have forgotten to finish them off and post them.

Next Sunday, I'll finish them and write a blog post to show them off. I guess it'll help show that there is activity on the blog

guys, when i said the no. of visitors on the site has increased it is infact very strange in January 2010, the site gots its highest ever Unique Visitors for any previous month. So far in February 2010, its got around 20% more visitors from January 2010..So definitely the traffic has increased.

I guess we should encourage users to post discussions and all.. Our forum has got a lot of topics which are basically all met by an answer, so users are basically just seeing those threads and solving their queries.. Also i think most of the new topics are getting adequate responses..

Secondly, i am thinking of making some sub-categories for the the Google Chrome OS sub-forum. I am sure there are a lot to write on that section.

Sorry if i have missed to reply someone..

    Regards.

Not exactly the image size, you can upload the image (whatever size), and just insert it, take a look at the preview and if its not fitting you can simple resize the image by dragging and then preview it again..
