As we wind down the final months of 2010, it's worth noting that Google's Chrome OS is still months away from shipping. Steven J. Vaughan Nichols noted that the operating system probablywont ship on netbooks until 2011. If you think back to the July 2009 anouncment of Chrome OS, it's easy to recall how revolutionary it seemed at the time. In particular, Google emphasized that it would make very efficient use of the cloud. But is that the greatest calling card anymore, and has Google dragged its feet for too long in delivering this OS?

sure hope is this year i bought a barebone laptop just for it i'll probably take me another month to get it done and a'm hoping i won't have to use windows os

I do not think it comes too late. I think it comes too early. I have greatly enjoyed Windows 7 and I have switched back from several web apps to conventional desktop software - for example, from getclicky.com to woopra for my SEO, from hotmail.com to outlook... admittedly, the new hotmail is excellent, but just slower than a desktop app. I just think it is early to live in the cloud, and will be for the next 5 years.
