I think it uses sqlite database %PROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\localStorage\chrome-extension_chmimgmjdabgiilljdjfbonifbhiglao_0.localstorage
Author can confirm this (or not)

Personally, I think calling this extension Adblock+ is a mistake. A lot of people are confusing it with the Firefox Adblock+ which blocks both ad sites and page elements. This would have been better named Element Hider, as that's what it does. The only way to get a plugin to block ads from loading is in Firefox as far as I can tell.

Edit: Further info for beginners in this thread.

Thanks mindphaser.

Does anyone know if there's a script version of this extension anywhere? Links I've found only lead to the .crx file, and I want to try it in SRWare Iron, which can't load .crx files.

EDIT: Found it, and it's working fine. Anyone know how to edit the strings it saves (assuming they're in the sqlite database file?)

Thanks Sulasno. I can't find the file Adblock's data is stored in, but at least can open the storage files now.

Can anyone confirm that Chrome doesn't have an API to block content?

Yes. Also you can use button "Edit" for rules a current page and preferences for global filters.

«The Chromium extension system is in active development. It is not yet ready for use by the general public.»
When the extension system is completed, it will obviously include content policy/BlacklistManager

Lex, is there any chance of having a larger edit dialog with a textarea for editing the filters? Once there are a few it becomes awkward, and I tend to copy-edit-paste then OK.

Great work, by the way!

@drozdii: Put --enable-local-storage in your Chrome shortcut.

Mind you, I'm giving Iron a good testing as I like the .ini file content blocking, and I've used this setting, but Adblock+ is loosing my settings on reloading filtered sites. Anyone know why that might be..?
