Default AdSweep - Ad-removal tool

Hi guys,

I have been working on an ad-removal tool, it works in Chrome. If you want to check it out and contribute, here's the web site: adsweep.org
Your feedback is welcome!

all my adds get blocked, Chrome is very much like IE, all you need is some proper entries in the windows hosts file and you will never EVER see a single advert ever again

there is even tools available now that keep your hosts file updated as the new adds company come out, HostsMan is a great little tool.. google for it, a strong hosts file is all you should ever need to block all adds..

Adsweep is working great with Chrome Beta (2.0.169.1). But I noticed today that legitimate popups seem to be disabled. At least at one site, if I click on the picture, Chrome does not open a new window with a larger version of the picture.

Any ideas? Is this site specific? Adsweep specific? or Chrome specific?

Does it really block ads or just hide the ads. If it blocks ads, bandwidth can be saved, if the ads is only hidden, no bandwidth is saved

Of course.

Chrome has no way to stop the loading of images.

Well.. since you can inject javascript code before a page loads.. i think you might be able to stop images from loading.

Well that scripts only hide them. But there's nothing stopping your from making a script that sets src="" on all images.
