or it is... there can be links in forums, or specific admin sites, which are not _links_, but plain text. without mouse gestures, i should select them, then copy, open a new tab, paste and hit enter or the go button. in firefox, i can do this whole process by selecting the link, then use RMB+move mouse up. if i have to deal with many such links, it's far easier and more comfortable to use the gesture...
and yes, when i use IE or now Chrome (i've dled it to try, and i like, because it's fast, and the tab handling is really cool), i always try to use mouse gesture to go back/forward![]()
I for one am looking forward to the gestures on chrome. And i Think what he means by open a specific link with a gesture is opening up a Search Page or ect in a new tab by moving his mouse.
Mouse Gestures ftw!
For the people who are not familiar with mouse gestures, here is what I use them for and the benefits:
The main idea is that you can perform an action just anywhere on the page.
No aiming at anything tiny buttons. No small menu items which need to be chosen (e.g. middle mouse button)
1. Go forward/backwards on a page with just one movement of my wrist.
2. close a page by writing L with the mouse. I don't need to
3. Open a new page by clicking on the link and moving up
There are a lot more functions, you can even define what happens if you perform a certain gesture, e.g. open a specific bookmark etc...
Hope this helps the ones who have never used Opera or mouse gestures in Firefox to understand what Chrome is actually missing in this functionality.
Mouse gestures save a lot of time and make browsing effortless.
i also want mouse gestures for chrome. i'm constantly trying to use the back gesture cause i'm used to how my firefox and opera run. gMote looks very promising.. almost like it solves my problem and also ADDS to my overall computer experience offline and online! thanks for tips guys![]()
Built-in chrome gestures would be a very nice addition. I keep trying to go back with my mouse in chrome

Mouse gestures, flashblock and Addblock are the only plugins which I need to start using only Chrome instead of Fedora. It seems that many people need gestures, because this looks like one of the most visited threads in this forum with more than 30 000 visitors...
Here is an alternative to gMote.
Rocker is a program that provides rocker mouse gestures to chrome (and explorer etc) . It has a massive memory and CPU advantage over gMote, Rocker uses only using 1,400K of memory when loaded, plus it's open source

I found a new mouse gesture software. It's very simple and I use it a lot. Works great with Chrome. Check it out. It's called LiveEdge at
