As I mentioned if you could repackage it here (asap) with the new amendments incorporated and a note so that people can edit their own preferred NewTab page that would be brilliant ...

The NewTab has always been a debating point as far as Chrome goes, You either love it or hate it ...

This extension now gives you the best of both worlds, especially with the ability to hide your current tab aswell ;-)

There's a thread in the Chrome Help Forum that I would love to point at this extension on this forum ...

I believe it would give this forum great credibility ;-)

I'd like to wait on any repackaging till Kyrax releases the updates he mentioned he made, and hasn't released yet. Just so we have everything to work with, you know?

I though t Kryptyx was taking over maintenance of this extension because Kyrax hadn't got the time ...

Just thought it would be nice to repackage it as it is now with the enhancements (provided by you and Kryptyx) ...

As an extension it can only get better, but at the moment it is the answer to a lot of peoples 'prayers' as it is ...

I stand by what I said previously and believe it would bring a lot of Kudos to this forum ;-)

Like Waha said, Kyrax has some modifications that he announced. I was also waiting on those before editing this extension too much.

I would just like to mention that you said I was the author (about changing the newtab to Google), I dont want any false credit or nothing because I am not the original author - so just wanted to clarify that.

On a different note, is the chrome API fully implemented? According to the API calling chrome.tabs.create({url: chrome://newtab}); should spawn a new tab but it does not. I was wondering if this was just not fully implemented yet or if its disabled for some security reason.

Like to do my bit for the furtherence of Chrome (and this site) ...

Just been messing and found that if you save the JS here as a user.js and enable User Scripts it works just as welll ....

Great extension! I've been looking this for so long! Can't wait it to evolve further.

There's been a function that I've been missing since i migrate to Chrome and I want to asking if there a way to do it via Java extensions (I just noticed that ChromeGestures beta 0.1 killed my right click menu):
- when you drag a link just few pixels away from it position to open it in new tab.
- when you drag a text the same way to try to open it in new tab as an URL.
