Default CustomNewTab v0.4

Already ?

Yes.

Why ?

Because I said so !

Get it from http://code.google.com/p/customnewtab/

Only one feature, but I thought it was a major modification to the original behavior that deserved it's own update.

CustomNewTab does not use a Toolstrip anymore. You will no longer have to deal with a blue bar at the bottom of your screen if you are using CustomNewTab. The extension now runs in a (rencently available) background page process.

How can you reach the dashboard ?

Bookmark this page : chrome-extension://bpadoikgkkpmocgnhmkipbchigggjnje/dashboard.html
and voilĂ* !

Why did I do that ?
I felt like Toolstrips were an obstrusive and non intuitive way to access the configuration. Bookmarks feel like a much more natural way to reach a web page. Also, you can place bookmarks wherever you need. Plus, since you probably only have to configure it once in a while, you might not even need to bookmark it at all !

Enjoy !

As usual, comments are more than welcome.

@Kyrax ..

Your still the man (closely followed by Stamga)

So I've got my CNT, got my Theme ...

Guess I'll have to use AdSweep user script now, then wait for other extension makers to catch up (Shame)

BTW - Hows things looking on 3.0.189.0 ?

Haven't had time to look into it. I'll be able to give you some feedback this weekend. Right now, I'm kind of pissed that they dropped this update out of nowhere and ruined all of the extensions. However, I'm glad there's talk on the Chromium Blog to implement a repository for all extensions.

Just a mention, the new URL to the dashboard is: chrome-extension://bpadoikgkkpmocgnhmkipbchigggjnje/dashboard.html
Also I'm liking this extension, I never liked the Recent Bookmarks listing (cause it's always filled with Bookmarklets! and that just seems so odd to me). Only suggestion I could make is maybe that it collapse the removed recent bookmarks block so that that Recently Closed Tabs block could go up to where the recent bookmarks one was.
Thanks for the extension. :]

Hey Waha, glad you like the extension.
I already knew about the URL but I only updated my google code page. Thanks for telling me

As for changing the layout, this is something that I've been looking into, but some technical difficulties have been keeping me from doing it. But since you requested it, I'll give it a second thought.

Wouldn't it just be a matter of contentWindow.document.getElementById("recentlyBookmarked").style.display = "none"; ? ^^;
