    @fructal

    I suggest you read it yourself ...

    I wouldn't exactly call a box of asterixs surrounding some text as art !!!
    This is really getting off topic, in the end what Fructal said was what I was referring to. Whether or not you consider it "art" is really irrelevant.

    Now to get back on topic, I have heard that a few people are having issues installing the latest version of 1.0.7, please make sure you clear your cache prior to installing the latest version. For some it seems even this did not fix the issue but I have tested the extension on 2 computers and my android phone (uncompressed the crx and verified the manifest.json).

    I'm going to give my opinion over this.

    First of all I have to say that users without experience are not going to be able to edit the JS in this or that way... What user without experience goes around there deep searching in folders for files and then editing it?

    The same user that has experience editing the old way, will be able to edit the new way purposed here. Point is: what's the better way to organize the script itself, and the focus must not be what's the best way for a newbie user to edit it.

    If the user is a newbie he won't edit thing. If he has basic javascript knowledge (which then will be an adventurous enough guy to edit it) he is going to read the comments and see exactly how to change it, in both of the ways.

    Related to ASCII art I don't think it's needed to. I would prefer to just use block comments, without any art.

    The original workaround posted here was to clear both the cache and your cookies ...

    Why do you need to do this for this particular extension, it's not required for others ....

    Its really unknown as to why you need to, it is not related directly to this extension but more of an issue with Chrome itself. Clearing your cache seems to resolve the issue, if that does not work uninstall the previous version and try to install it directly.

    Again this issue is not related directly to this extension. I think you will tend to notice it more with this extension because of the frequency at which our updates come out.

    Cookies should not need to be cleared only the cache.

    You Don't Need to Clear Your Cache (Unless of course you really want to)

    Simply rename your Cache to something else (Make sure you close Chrome first)...

    ** Restarting Chrome will automatically create a new cache **

    Install CG 1.0.7 ...

    Rename your version of the Cache back (assuming you want it back)

    OR

    Use the User Script version of Chrome Gestures, it doesn't interact with the Chrome pages in the same way as the extension does ...

    You won't have the movement indicators or the Options screen (But hey, what the heck)

    By the way, sorry Steve, but we might be abandoning the UserScript now that communication is back, and it's much better in quite a few ways to store the gestures and such in the Background Page instead.
    It will be too much work to have two completely different code bases in my opinion. However we'll leave the current version of the User Script up there.

    Also I think that's enough talk about comments and garbage.
    I think it's enough to say that it will be well documented, regardless of where that documentation is.

    Yep, Let's get this back on topic. Please mods, keep an eye on this thread

    The user script is doomed to disappear eventually. I think our next major release will not include a user script version.

    @Waha

    TBFH, I'm well past the point of caring now...

    So as long as Chrome supports User Scripts the version of CG I have will suffice (even though I actually use the extension version)...

    I originally wanted something that would enable me (and others) to have a customisable Page of Choice instead of the NewTab, a Blank Page and the ability to 'Hide' (thanks to you) any page...

    CG obviously does that and a bit more (you might want to think about a 'Print' gesture)...

    So thanks for your personal efforts ;-)

    The new 3.0.196.0 ver seems to have broken gestures again! I wonder when they will stabilise this stuff!
