    Unless you wanna use an old version of Chrome, you don't at the moment.
    Otherwise, you just view a video on YouTube or whatever it knows how to grab, and it will inject a download button onto the page (generally near the video itself, or in the title or something).

    Haven't had the time to work on Chrome yet at all.

    maybe what needs to be done to fix the addon for the latest beta is a really small modification?

    Nope, they changed the whole way you have to access the content page, so to get JavaScript variables like it does for many sites (including YouTube), I have to inject a script that will send a message back to the extension with the value of the variable. This is a significant amount of work, whether it's difficult or long or not, it's enough for me to not want to pause paid projects to finish this thing.

    Whatever needs to be done could be found in Blackcoil's YouTube Downloader (I guess) as his extension always found the best quality available, which obviously included HD ...

    It needs someone with the knowledge to look at it and extract the relevant bits, unfortunately I don't have the skills to do it (I wish I had)!!

    For that part yes, but not for fixing the rest of what broke after the changes in Chrome.

    @Waha

    Think our posts past in the ether ;-)

    I know Blackcoil's worked up to 3.0.195.6 but is totally knackered (like everything else that uses the API) since these new changes in Chrome ...

    I, for one, appreciate that you Guys (and Gals) have a 'day time' job and understand that the extensions that you have provided will have to just wait 'till you have time to fix them (even though it is frustrating)...

    For me, the important thing is just how good Chrome is going to be once the extension interface has finally settled down and more importantly the pioneering work you and your associates have thus far contributed ...

    For the time being I can live without some of my extensions, safe in the knowledge that when you have the time you will fix them ...

    An appreciative fan ;-)
