Default Google Reader extension

Hey,

Didn't realize Vasanth made a google reader extension, but here's one I made last night. Its built on the new 3.0.189 build, so it should be working whereas others might not be.

Here's the link: http://pineappleorange.wordpress.com...google-reader/

Here's what it looks like:

I'd like to use that.. I really would like to..

But I hate having a whole blue bar at the bottom of my screen just for a couple of extensions.

I wish the bar was only as wide as the total width of the extensions.

.. sorry for my little rant here.

Nice job ! Thanks for sharing !

Kyrax, I entirely second the blue bar thing.
I would love to have the number of unread posts on the side of my Google Reader Favicom in the Bookmarks bar...

or to be able to make the "Extension Display Bar" (the EDB!) go away in the same way as we make the bookmarks bar go away with ctrl-B

Sorry to complaint about this, but for me the number on the toolbar is always 3. It does not change, no matter how many unread items I have. Seriously But I don't feel like debugging it today.

Soon I'm going to post on the forum another variation on the Google Reader extension. For now it's just my opinion, but let me say that mine is the best one I've seen so far. I'll be glad to share and see what you guys say about it.

Wow... you know guys, there are a lot of requests for extensions out there ( see the blog's recent post on that subject ) .. so why does everyone want to create a google reader extension ?

@Kyrax ...

As the man who knows many things :-)

Most of the extensions that have been posted on this forum seem to be 3.0.189.0 compliant (AdSweep, Custom NewTab, Cleeki, Flashblock, AniWeather, Sticky Notes) ...

However Blackcoils Youtube Downloader (probably one of the best extensions going) isn't ...

In the absence of Blackcoils (he doesn't seem to have been about for ages) is there any way we can bring it up to scratch (I really like this extension) ...

The fact is I have written it before even coming to this site just for myself. And currently I'm just extracting the logic to the background page and polishing some rough edges. I need it myself so I'm going to do it anyway, and once I'm finished with it I'll see if there are any other interesting request around.

This is actually my first extension. Didn't know there were other reader ones out there, just made it for myself mostly.

For Blackcoils Youtube Downloader I use the Userscript... That is still working great.
