Note there are two types of popups:

The small one appears when you hover your mouse over the toolstrip icon (and stay for a while) and provides detailed info about current condition. it will disappear automatically after a while. I will add the option to close it manually.

The large one appears when you click on the small popup and provides 5-day forecast (see the screenshot above). Click any of the grayed area on the left and right side will close the popup. Again I will add the option to close it manually.

Regarding your comments "I noticed another annoying feature, clicking a popup link from a different website will also open the aniweather config tab.", I didn't fully understand it and it seemed like a bug. Could you please provide more detailed info so that I can check it?

It should be a nice extension after getting the bugs worked out, it appears all weather data is coming from weather.com. If you click on the popup that is where you are taken for additional information.

I was able to set Brussels, Belgium as a location with Celcius and Kilometers (you have a typo for Kilometers on your site)

Everything is OK except for the Chrome bug witch puts the focus on the first tab if you have several.

Strange, I am not able to get the popup in either Win7 or XP. I've removed all extensions and still doesn't work for some reason.

**Edit** Didn't realize in Win7 the popup was shifting to the first tab. Still can't get it in my XP VM though. Maybe something to do with VM not supporting 3d?

I don't think it has anything to do w/ VM 'cause I tested it before. I will try Win7 and VM and see what happens. Here are some additionally tricks:

1. The first page after you launch Chrome might not work. This is a confirmed chrome bug
2. Hover your mouse on the toolstrip icon, not the (temperature) text.
3. Wait for a while (don't move your mouse) on the icon to show the detailed view.

I will update the software to accommodate these points.

after install, it took 1 PAGE LOAD before it worked. I had tried just opening a new tab and that didn't help.

There is a large gap btwn the small popup and the toolstrip. Also this small popup does not go away consistently. I can't reproduce but there was definitely a few times that the popup did not go away automatically on mouseout or timeout.

The behavior I expected was:

1.) popup shows up immediately (animation is cool but annoying I just want the weather!)
2.) no gap between the popup and the weather Icon
3.) also for me I have 2 buttons to the left of the weather gadget and the popup is all the way to the left not aligned with the weather icon.


In all, very nice. I use forecastbar enhanced in firefox, obviously it has had a long dev cycle so its fully featured, but basic additions to get there would be multiple days visible in toolstrip and icon to mouseover for animated radar popup.

So I reinstalled this extension since the tooltip issue was fixed. Once thing I noticed was that after deleting the added bookmarks (I figured once it's set I don't need to keep them anymore, I'm anal with my bookmarks) the extension loses it's settings and adds the bookmarks back. Then, in the config all the default cities are populated twice (or 3 times if you delete the bookmark again). Next, when you go to add your cities back in, the search finds your city twice.

Just some bugs I've found so far. I would really like a way to not have to keep the bookmark, if at all possible.

Once again, it comes down to not having any official solution to local storage.
Either you copy and paste a file, save config in a bookmark or use another workaround.
