yes, maybe is a bug, I also loose the preferences of the read it later extensions and the weather-thing I have..

did you try any of my suggested methods? did it work

go to chrome://extensions/ -> click on Developer mode -> click on the background.html just bellow my Better Gmail extension -> go to Storage tab -> in the left sidebar under Local Storage you will see an entry called gmfoc... click on it -> manually delete every key (select + delete) -> uninstall Better Gmail -> restart browser -> install it again from the extensions gallery
