Default [New Ext] Select It - open URLs by hotkey & selection

    Extension: Select It
    Developer: Manticore
    Latest Version: 1.0.4
    Download Latest Version: http://chrome.thecodingbug.com/exten...t/selectit.crx

Description: Ever get bored at having to copy-paste URLs that are not made in to "real" click-able links? It's a cumbersome work, and can be made a lot easier. With Select It you won't have to waste any more time. The only thing you have to do now is select the URL/e-mail address/text and hit Shift + F and let it do the correct action of what you selected.

Try the examples at the get-started page before and after you have installed this extension, and see which one is the fastest way!

    Features:
    1. Open not clickable URLs directly
    2. Start a mail conversation by selecting an e-mail address and hit Shift + F
    3. Google selected text on a webpage with the hotkey

Browser Compatibility: Latest dev version (v1.0.4 is supported on 4.0.223.9)

    Release notes:
    1.0.4
Fixes for new Chrome version (223.9): Removed browser action icon and Options button on extensions page.
    1.0.3
    Changed name to Select It

Indeed, this is not yet possible, but when it is I'll be on it!

A new release is up that adds config for hotkey.

As opposed to just selecting the link text and drag-dropping it into the address bar..? I don't find that cumbersome, and it doesn't require an extra extension. Maybe some will find the email thing useful, but I prefer to just run my email application. That's what it's there for.

Edit: I shouldn't try things when I'm tired. It makes more sense now; new tabs and all. Good stuff.

Still you're right about being able to drag directly to the tabs. I made this extension because I wanted a keyboard shortcut for it, and it felt stupid not to release it to everyone. Also in the future I can add more types of selections, like maybe opening Twitter when selecting @username. Possibilities are endless

1.0.4: Browser Action icon is removed and options can only be accessed from the extensions page (see Options button).
