Default New Tab page cleaned up

I just downloaded Chromium's latest nightly build (4.0.231.0 - 30677), and all the annoying crap is fixed! Lah le lah, happy bunny! (Sorry, got a bit excited). The Windows version is here (bottom of the list).

The little top-right menu widget on the New Tab page now lets you switch off the annoying tips, and the bookmark sync. It makes the New Tab page so much cleaner, and I'm liking it even more.

(I just noticed that dragging an extension onto it now asks if you want to Continue or Discard, not Save. Makes more sense, as the newly saved copy is only temporary anyway).

Edit: It went to 4.0.232.0 (30678) just after I posted this. And unless I'm mistaken, it seems faster than Chrome Dev (4.0.223.11).

The mini-installer, as it was smallest (I think). Plus saves messing around setting up folders and stuff. If you install over an older versions of Chromium there are no prompts, it just does it and ends.

New link: http://build.chromium.org/buildbot/continuous/win/ - the latest is at the bottom of the list.

No, I gave up on Adblock+ twice. First time it kept loosing my settings, though Lex1 said it was a Chrome bug. Then I tried it again recently after switching to Chrome Dev, but it blanks out my Element Inspector window. I'm waiting for Lex1 to reply in the extension thread.

I prefer as few icons and extra bells as possible (I mean, why ruin a minimal design?) so I use an easier method, which is described in the Plugins forum.

I gave up on those also and tried Bfliter for a bit but that interfered with a lot and the documentation wasn't clear to me so I went back with a Hosts filter. For me this seems to give the best mix of control and speed I have found.

I use Chromium updater and keep that updated regularly. If there is a problem its usually taken care of in a subsequent update soon after as opposed to Chrome.

@CT; I haven't found BFilter to mess anything up or hide something it shouldn't (as far as I'm aware, and I check in IE without filters as well).

Your hint about Chromium seems to answer a question I asked in another thread, ie., what the differences are between Chromium and Chrome. It appears that Chrome isn't updated as often, maybe because the Google team are busy Google-ising the thing..? I'm going to stick with Chromium for a while and see how things progress.
