Default Backup profile - question about location

    Hey,

I did search and didn't find any related info, so my bad if this already was posted.

I'm used to type %appdata% in Windows Explorer, in order to go to MyUser/Application Data folder. That way I can get into any program's profile directory, plugins and stuff.

    However, Chrome isn't there.

I know, I know... Chrome is inside the MyUser\Local Settings\Application Data.

But why that behavior? I mean, it's profile files can't be placed inside the %appdata%?

Would be much easier, since all programs store it there.

My Chrome and data for Chrome is here:

    C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome

Edit: I did not answer your question and I do not know actually as to why it is like this...

I'd like to know why Windows even has an Application Data\Local Settings and a Local Settings\Application Data. It's really confusing.
Anyway all your Chrome profile stuff, settings, bookmarks, custom dictionary is in the User Data folder in C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome

Windows 7 will fix that.. right ?

I totally agree with you Waha. So confusing when you don't know about it.

Also, Google installs stuff on a lot of different folders.

    C:\Program Files\Google\
    Documents And Settings\User\Appdata\Google\
    Documents And Settings\User\Appdata\Local Settings\Appdata\Google\

It only gets more and more confusing !!

On Windows 7, the only place you'd find Chrome is: C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Google

At least there aren't any AppData\LocalSettings\AppData shenanigans.

I was thinking on copy that content in order to backup data, like I do in other apps (e.g. Thunderbird).

Right now, how you people are backing up all data (bookmarks, history, saved passwords, etc) ?

I don't thrust much those backup utilities.
