Default Chrome creating too many processes?

I have started to notice my Chrome has been lagging lately and when I check task manager, Chrome has approximately 12 processes open, and I only have one tab open! Here's a picture:

    What's wrong?

Probably leftover from other tabs, and I think maybe some extensions may make a new process etc.

I usually try to restart Chrome every couple of hours browsing to get rid of unnecessary processes.

When Chrome first came on the scene it loaded in 4 seconds. That was the advertised advantage of switching to Chrome. Now we have all the advantages of the other browsers and it takes 14 seconds on a cold boot. We can't have our cake and eat it too?
Consciousness: That annoying time between naps.

The time it takes to load depends on your computer and how many extensions etc you have. If you have no extensions, it'll still boot fast.

    This.
You can check Chrome's built-in task manager (Wrench->Tools->Task Manager) to see what each process is for.
