I too have not moved to Chrome precisely because of the keyword search and highlight feature in the Google toolbar for IE. For me the main difference between using Ctrl-F and the Google Toolbar Highlight feature is the ease of use. When using Ctrl-F I need to constantly re-type the words I just searched on. With Google toolbar, I type it once, the pages I open as a result of the search have the words already highlighted, with one click I can either jump to them directly or scroll through the page looking for the highlighted terms. Also important, with the tool bar I can search on and highlight both phrases AND single words in the same search. Ctrl + F only allows me to find one word at a time OR an entire phrase. So if a am doing a complicated search and I am trying to hone in on the interesting stuff, I am finding that I am constantly retyping words or phrases in the Ctrl-F box, instead of typing it all just once and picking out the things that I want to find as I go from one page to another. It is surprising to me that that some team at Google developed this years ago, but no one in the Chrome group ever picked up on it, it is like different companies within the same company. They should be better at learning from their own successes.
I completely agree with bdander - I fired off too quickly thinking that Ctrl+F would be adequate. The omission of highlighter prevents me from making Chrome my main browser.
