    Default History Index files

Why doesn't clearing history delete the 'History Index' files in the C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\ folder?

These take up a lot of space on my limited (almost a toy) Asus EEE PC that I use when roaming around.

What can I delete myself with causing problems? Conversely, what are the ramifications if I do delete some of the files by hand?

    BTW - Well done forum.
