    @sol and sul ...

    Just as a matter of interest what benefits do you see in Chromium and the fact it updates so frequently and you yourself update so frequently ...

    Don't you have the same problem as we do on the Dev channel in that every now and again things go a little bit wrong !

    @Twins.Seven

    I did not install Chromium; I downloaded the zip, extract the contents to the Desktop and run it from there

    @SP

    I don't install Chromium. I use the zip version instead. See above.
    I don't download each build unless I am not busy and it takes me less than 2 minutes to download. Some of the previous builds were screwed up eg unable to start but that's not a problem since they are resolved almost immediately with newer builds. I don't really see any advantages of running it over the dev and stable version; but guess that some of us are adventurous. As mentioned before, dev channel offered to the public comes from Chromium. Users get to see new things before the dev channel does.

    @sul

    Thanks for the input, think I'll stick with the Dev channel, that's adventurous enough for me ;-)

    I remember looking at Chromium in the early days, if I remember right there's a little application that you can run and check for the latest build and then download it (zip or executable if I remember right))...

    I think it also gave a status report on the condition of the build, always seemed to be 'failed one or more unit tests' ...

    the latest build of Chromium broke 3 extensions that I have installed but I'm not crying :-)

    I can always switch to Dev Chrome
    however this means that the developers of plugins/extensions should start updating theirs for the next version of Dev Chrome and I guess I will hold on updating to current version of Dev Chrome if I want to continue to use the extensions

    Had the same problem with the latest Dev version, broke a couple of my extensions ...

    Hence me staying where I am ...

    Its just a shame the developers have to be reactive as opposed to proactive ...

    This is why I don't auto update chrome anymore ...

    are you still interested in running dev Chrome in portable mode?

    try this if you are;

    create a new folder call "Profile"
    copy the contents of User Data to it

    add the following to the shortcut
    --user-data-dir=Profile

    try running portable Chrome in a system without Chrome
    and keep fingers crossed :-)
