    As I said originally, it was really prompted by me wanting to carry my Bookmarks about with me and not having to keep updating Only2Clicks (or something else) ...

    I'm a bit busy for the next couple of days, but I do want to try and get this to work ...

    I noticed you suggested naming it 'profil' , that's the name in the proper portable version (which is Chromium if I remember right) for the User Data folder isn't it?

    As I haven't got a spare system to test this on I'll have to think about how I'm going to do this ...

    Obviously I'll need to uninstall and then reinstall, but seeing as I don't want to update to the latest Dev version just yet (but want to be at my current Dev version) I need to give some thought on how I achieve this ...

    ooops I got the name "Profil" from portable Chrome and decided to add an "e" :-)

    EDIT

    found this on portable Chromium
    http://portableapps.com/node/15677

    just another thought
    install portable Chrome on a pendrive;
    install dev Chrome;
    copy the contents of dev Chrome to the portable Chrome;
    Will it work?

    Are your chromium can read xml and display it by structure? if yes, very good 'coz chrome can't. ie, opera, and firefox can read it, but not chrome and safari. both of them read as html (dismish the xml tag)

    Cleeki, AdBlock+, and Smile Manager

    (point that I want to make is that users of updates of dev Chrome may face the same problem)

    Cleeki and Adblock+ seem OK (in my version anyway)

    Not updating to latest version 'cos it screws Chrome Gestures and Sticky Notes ...

    Don't know about Smile Manager, don't use it ...

    Don't you have the same problem as we do on the Dev channel in that every now and again things go a little bit wrong !
    Things do go wrong every now and then, but they're also fixed relatively quickly. The Chromium dev team is definitely one of the most helpful and responsive group of open-source project programmers I've submitted bug reports to.

    Besides, with how fast Chrome is evolving now, test-driving the nightly releases are pretty exciting (even the Dev channel lags days and sometimes weeks behind the newest stuff). Bugs don't really matter as long as you backup a working version of Chromium before updating so you can revert if needed - which my updater does automatically.
