Post I Find Chrome as a must for Linux Distros

    I am having a lot of fun, Google Chrome is really good in general;
and now that I handle Ubuntu Linux very much for all I need; I think
that having it side by side with my fav browser (firefox) will make the whole
Ubuntu experience even better; kudos Google geeks, I will be waiting to install
a .deb version of your nice and fast browser.

I agree 100%. The Linux Linc Tech Show podcast last week did mention that Chrome is a couple months out, but im not sure where they got that info from.
The machine im on now runs Ubuntu Hardy using WUBI so its no big deal to boot windows to use chrome, but seeing chrome in the repo's sure would be sweet.

You can run Chrome under WINE if you want to, give this a shot:

    1) # wget www.kegel.com/wine/winetricks
    # sudo cp winetricks /usr/sbin

    # sudo chmod +x /usr/sbin/winetricks

Flash is optional but best to install, also you may need to install cabextract package after this.

    2) # winetricks riched20 riched30 flash

    installing some fonts
    # winetricks allfonts

    3) # wget gpdl.google.com/chrome/install/149.29/chrome_installer.exe
Change .29 to reflect latest Chrome version

    4) # wine chrome_installer.exe

After installing you should get .desktop file at your desktop for running the application. Be sure to append “–new-http –in-process-plugins” to it’s run-command.

Here is a sample of a string you can get
    env WINEPREFIX=«/home/userdir/.wine» wine «C:\windows\profiles\userdir\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe» –new-http –in-process-plugins
