Hello, everyone!I am here to either petition for some specific features for Chrome, or to come up to speed with the Chrome design and implementation in order to make some changes that I'd like to see.First, some background. I was in the software development starting in 1957, when I cut my teeth on an IBM 650 vacuum tube computer at the University of Pittsburgh. This started in a course offered by the math department called "Introduction to Digital Computers", which I took to like a duck to water. In the summer of 1958 I became a staff member in the Pitt Computer Center, where I would remain until mid-1966.During this time period I developed numerous programs, culminating in an operating system for the IBM 7070, and a Fortran compiler for the same machine. From mid-1966 through November, 1973 I was in the Pitt School of Medicine, Department of Radiation, where I was lead engineer in a NASA/NIH project to develop a computer-controlled microscope and software to analyze human chromosomes. This work involved a DEC PDP-10 computer, for which I maintained the operating system and developed a lot of software for image analysis and graphic drawing on a pen plotter. From late 1973 until early 1998, I worked for CompuServe Inc., in Columbus, Ohio, working on the OS and much of the support software (text editor, compiler runtime support, etc.) and one of the pioneers to on-line computer access for the masses, named MicroNET, later renamed to the CompuServe Information Service (CIS) where I developed so much softwatre I can't even begin to recall it all. Anyway, the bottom line is that I did software design and development for a long time, and so I am familiar with a wide range of programming languages and environments. My reason for dropping in here is that there are some general capabilities for browsers in particular which I perseive to be lacking, and which, I believe, would be extremely helpful for a sub-class of users, namely the visually impaired. I am a member of this group, and find little or no interest on the part of developers to invest in helping people such as myself. Hence, I would like to learn enough about Chrome to make changes for my own use, or for inclusion in Google's Chrome as you might see fit to adopt.I'll sign off now and wait for response before continuing with my ideas.
