    I'll probably do the same ...

    What's frustrating me is the total disinterest ...

    There's an opportunity here to be at the forefront for next to no investment (other than time) for something that doesn't exist anywhere else ....

    The forum is already the first listed when you do a search on anything Chrome so with a little advertising of what the forum is all about they get to 'corner the market' ...

    I so wish I had the time and the skills to set the site up myself ....

    Yours 'Frustrated in Birmingham !!'

    @Luc

    I'm extremely disappointed in Chrome, he wants to know where all the old members are, yet when you make a suggestion for increasing the traffic and activity to the site he goes on the 'missing list' !!!

    For some time now I have been considering abandoning this forum and I think this display of 'total apathy' is the final contributory factor ...

    Chrome last posted on this thread 10 days ago asking how we wanted it to work and since then has not had the courtesy to even at least say it was a no goer ...

    Oh well, perhaps someone with a bit of vision (and time) can pick up the gauntlet ...

    Cool I very much agree

    After being away from the forum for some time, I agree with the main points made in these and other posts. It looks like it's just dying a natural apathetic death. No proper organisation, and completely rubbish server speed (which is not down to 'cleaning up the server' - the admin just needs to get a decent hosting package).

    I popped back to see if anyone fancied helping with a plugin, but with the lousy server response speed and lack of real input on anything there's not much else here to make it worth spending time on, is there?

    Oh well, most of the Internet dies naturally as it fills up with more and more dross, and real life's much more fun!

    @Michael

    Nice to hear your dulcid tones (in my head anyway) ...

    As you can see nothing changes, in actual fact it's getting worse !!!

    I'm now about to abandon the forum, I've got a couple of posts left to do and then that's it ...

    Gotta go earn a living for a few months, early nights and all that ...

    One thing I'm going to do before I depart is install Chrome version 0.2.149.27 Beta and bring back a few memories ;-)

    Hi Steve,

    I'm on 4.0.249.89 Stable, as I got tired of changes and crashes. Works fine (until an upgrade, no doubt!)

    I've just thrown a site together for extensions mods, and left a directional post here. I might be persuaded to add a forum (using one of the major packages, which would take just a few hours). If you're still serious about being involved in something like that then post again here, or email me via http://gochrome.letsdoo.org.

    Good luck with the job, too! I hope it has some fun times as well as challenges.

    Hi Michael,

    Yeah, I went back to the Stable version for much the same reasons, have to be honest the only thing that really annoys me is that you can't shrink the extension area or rearrange them ...

    I'm thinking of going to the latest Beta just to see how it performs (I do like a challenge !!) ...

    I'd still like to see a forum that is solely dedicated to Extensions; as I keep saying I think it is something that would grow in popularity ...

    The only way you get to know about new extensions (of any worth) currently is if you have a feed to something like Lifehacker, How-To-Geek or ChromeStory (a rival to this forum, but not particularly good content wise) ...

    I like to think of myself as the 'ideas man', just need a 'techie' like yourself to bring the 'idea' to fruition ...

    Talking of ideas, how do I install the Speed Dial extension (I've got the original) once I've downloaded the Zip file ...

    Nice to see you've also got Grabbit, another of my favourites, having said that I now use GetYou Tube which is pretty good ...

    @Steve: To install the zipped Speed Dial just pull the folder and .pem file onto your desktop, then use Chrome's extension page Developer Mode > Pack Extension, selecting the folder and .pem file in the dialog it opens. If you pack it after each mod with the same .pem file it keeps its settings as it's flagged as being the same extension.

    Pop me an email with a brief outline of your forum idea, and I may give it a go. (I have hosting with decent bandwidth, and it's pretty fast. At present I'm not really utilising it, though it doesn't cost much). I think an extensions-only forum could be very interesting, especially if people shared coding ideas and such. I don't mind putting in some effort to help others (in fact I enjoy doing so), but don't want to get into a time-sink as I have in the past. Sharing out admin duties is the best way I guess.
