    Default Unified Menu System

In the latest Chrome dev and chromium versions, Google added a unifed menu system. To enable it at the following: " --new-wrench-menu" to the command-line in the target box from the shortcut's properties. More on this here: http://googlesystem.blogspot.com/201...fied-menu.html

I think it's a very good idea, now if only they could remove the "other bookmarks".

And the latest nightly builds with the new menu are also testing Ctrl+Alt+B as the new keyboard shortcut for the Bookmark Manager.

Ignore the shortcut displayed in the menu if it says "Ctrl+B". That's a known bug (to be fixed) because it hasn't been updated.

One of the things often mentioned is the economical use of screen space.

I'm not technically competent and so there may be very good reasons for this but ...

If you look at the way the Chrome browser opens (without any added themes) in its default mode, on the top RHS, there are the standard three buttons common to virtually all Windows programs: minimise, maximise, and close. My point is that there's nothing to the left of that. Couldn't the tabs be pushed up there?

I think you just have to maximise and then you have the tabs pushed there...

I was trying to post a printscreen but no joy with this new board...

You are absolutely right!!! I maximised and the tabs went up.

(The reason I keep my browser window a little less than max is because I want to see a bit of my internet connection to know whether any traffic is going on when it shouldn't.)

I tried this, and I get separate menu items for cut, copy and paste, and 3 separate menu items for zoom too, making the menu quite large and ugly. However, if this gets fixed to how it is in the screenshot in that post, this is very good, as I usually went to the wrong menu when there where two...

Also, the issue I described here is not fixed yet: Weird "box" icons beside shortcuts in tools menu

Yes I get the same ugly menu But I think it will get fixed soon.

What is your system language? And is this system wide or just the menu? Try this thou go to the "wrench", click "tools", then "encoding" and try messing around with the settings. For example try putting on auto detect, western or unicode. Haha I checked this: http://code.google.com/p/chromium/is...etail?id=45825 and look at this comment: "The left margin is typical for a windows native menu. The gutter is sometimes used for a checkmark, e.g. when "always show bookmarks bar" is selected.

The square is a different issue but as finnur points out, likely to be resolved automagically by issue 45734, so I'm assigning this to sky to close out once that work is done"

So yeah you're not the only one having problems. But a fix is coming, until then just try messing around with the settings, themes and fonts.

That's true, however the issue makes the margin far larger than usual.

Anyway, apparently it'll all be fixed in a week or two, which seems very reasonable.
