Default What an amazingly fast browser! Too bad its not usable!

I just gave this browser a go. MY god its FAST! Its killing firefox by at least 5x. I cant believe how each pages just goes snap snap.

I really want to use chrome as my main browser. But there are three things stopping me.

    1. I need a drop down menu like every other browser at the address bar, of all my recent and most used addresses. I want to browse with my mouse a lot. Having to type up what you want each time you want to go somewhere is ridiculous. Who thought up of taking out the drop down menus!

2.Tab close behavior. I need a single close button that closes each tab one by one on order. Just like the old firefox or the current Firefox when set to close tab behavior set to 3

    3.Recently closed tabs and windows.

Are there any ways to modify chrrome like this? I dont see how others can be without these features. If i cannot get these working the negatives will outweigh the speed benefits for me.

oh and the spell check menu is Ridiculously far away from the word you right click on. The suggestions are way too high. Look ate how close Firefox ones are.

lol I like how people blast in here in with their first post, demanding features Chrome already has.
Firstly, Chrome has a drop-down while typing of suggestions from bookmarks, browsing history, and google suggest (what they have when you start typing a search on google.com). The words are tried against the title of the page, and the url, beginning at wordbounds (ie. after spaces or punctuation).
These results are sorted by what website you most select from the dropdown after typing what you typed. If the difference between the highest selection and the rest of the results is great enough, it will appear in the omnibar itself as the completion suggest (pushing the right key to complete the word and type more, or the enter key to instantly visit).

Two sounds like a pretty easy extension that could be made. May I suggest posting it here?

Three is also already in Chrome, near the bottom of the new tab page (what you get when you push the +)

And for the spell check.. just make sure your text box is high enough on the page. ;P Though it would be a good suggestion to the Chromium team for them to put the spelling suggestions on the bottom of the context menu when it has to display it above where you're clicking.

Waha, thanks for the reply but I dont share the same level of enthusiasm towards all issues you do, in which you think they are easily rectified just by the user being more knowledgeable. If only it were that easy

In regards to the first issue, I think you completely missed the idea of what a drop down menu is.
I want to be able to click somewhere next to the adress bar and I want a list of my most favourite/recently visited/relevant list of websites, just like other browsers do.

Check them out. The others they all have it and its not a new feature by far, I'm not even sure if you understood what i mean. Its one of the most oldest and fundamental features of a browser.

I always knew chrome starts to display a drop down menu *after* you begin TYPING, the issue is, I want a drop down WITHOUT TYPING.

Not only do other browsers have a drop down menu just by clicking on a drop down button (which is nonexistent on chrome), but they also narrow the search down as you type just like chrome does, but this is only AFTER you have to start pressing buttons on the keyboard, thus forcing you to use the keyboard to initiate the drop down, and have to think of the wesbite you are after and thus the letters you have to press...

So chrome has nothing new or better here, its worse since they just removed the drop down feature before having to begin to type which is a massive disadvantage.
I cannot begin to tell you moving to chrome how annoying it is not to be able to see your favorite/most visited sites from a drop down menu, having to think what letter they begin with and how you have to start clicking keys on the keyboard for things to start showing.

I think when designers develop software in the way chrome has been in regards to the drop down issue, they probably assume that like them, everyone uses the keyboard without a shadow of a doubt as an integral part of the browsing experience.
It seems they havent considered that other people in their computer/browsing use may differ to this. What happens if someone does NOT want to have to use the keyboard for browsing? You are pretty much forced to use the keyboard with google chrome, wheres with other browsers once your browser knows our sites and habits you can literally browse for hours or days without having to touch your keyboard.

In short a drop down menu is a must. Can you justify why it is not there to begin with? It takes away no functionality, nor does it add complexity, nor does it take up room or clutter. In fact there are only positives not negatives to having it.

Thanks for the suggestion about the plug ins for browser tabs. I will post it but I am not hopefull, as again if there is not clear demand for something it seems unlikley it will be implemented. Other people are fine with close buttons on each tab, for me its a show-stopper
    .
If i have 10 new tabs in my browser that I want to look at and close one by one if I don't need anymore, in firefox with close tab behavior set to 3, or old firefox, I can simply go to the single close command that closes any currently displayed tab, then all I have to do is click, it will close the tab and bring up the next tab into focus, then i just click the same place again, it closes the focused tab again, shows the next tab in line etc. With buttons on each tab I have to move my laptop touch pad to each individual 10 tabs to the tiny little x and close them one by one. Why? This is so much more ridiculous....It literally takes about 20 seconds to close 10 tabs, a lot of finger strain, RSIs, effort, pain etc, etc, than to close them with the other method which takes at most 3 seconds and zero movement of the mouse or effort, just 10 clicks...

Thanks for the the recently closed pages/tabs info. It works perfectly, great design.

tl;dr, not gonna try to suggest a browser that's not right for you. So I'm gonna have to agree with Luc VN on this one.
Just keep in mind it's completely usable, and favorable, to many people. So your topic is a little...untrue..

    https://chrome.google.com/extensions...cokapdbonndhgm
that extension will create a button to close the selected tab

    https://chrome.google.com/extensions...gggcdimaklphij
this extension can change the behaviour of tabs being created or closed

    https://chrome.google.com/extensions...oajkfbcaigocfc
and this one lists recently closed tabs...expect more/better of these types of extensions once the history api gets through

and for favourites you have bookmarks?
