    Smile Why Is Chrome So Fast?

    Hey guys. Just found this site. Great info so far! Please keep it up. I just had a question- Can you explain to me why Chrome is so fast? Seriously, this is the fastest browser I have ever used by far. I used Internet Explorer for years, and then FireFox for that last year or so, but this Chrome browser blows both of them away as far as speed goes. How did you do that?

    Thanks!

    G

    I don't know because it is so fast.. but i can say that it's fantastic!
    Explorer require more RAM... and unfortunately also Firefox and Opera (the latter a little less).

    Hovewer i think that Chrome's designers are incredibles!

    One thing is for sure: Each tab runs on it's own process, check out the task manager, you'll see multiple processes named chrome.exe when you have more tabs opened in Google Chrome. I think this is the one reason why it's so fast. But this also means that if your Google Chrome freezes, only tabs or processes affected will be terminated that's pretty cool.

    But other things should be also mentioned, like simple GUI, etc...

    Chrome is fast because of webkit. It's the same rendering engine Safari uses.

    The google team rewrote Javascript to adapt it to modern browsing standards. They also invented this little thing called V8, which isn't hard to find out about.
    Basically it makes stuff go FAST.

    And please do not reply to these results saying 'But i know better' Test it your self; google bubble flash test; Find yourself some local server and check transfer speed;
    Hey, can you send me links for that flash test, I would like to try

    This is idiotic.

    The 'Flash' plugin isn't something Google wrote, Adobe wrote it. Your 'data' doesn't even mean anything! Did you even run the 'test' twice? Test it on different hardware? Probably not.

    The second 'test' is also meaningless - your browser does NOT control your download speed.

    And lastly, yes, Chrome uses Webkit;
    - but it also takes components from Mozilla, and has original code in those respects too.
    The JavaScript engine, and the UI - are completely original.
