I'd poke around the message boards here, the Google Extentions Gallery and on ChromeThemes.org. There are actually a pretty good selection of quality themes to choose from. You might be able to find one to tide you over.

oh wow, i agree with you. i've never found a chrome theme that i'd actually be able to use/look at on an every-day basis, but this one is gorgeous! if you do come across a step-by-step tutorial on how to get it to work with the latest, please do let me know!
