That sure is nice (the Graphite one), but its huge.
On getting it smaller is there really a difference between data18.png and theme_ntp_background.png?
If there isnt then change the manifest so both items point at the same file and delete the other one, if their is a difference then could you implement the difference with the Tint on Frame or the frame overlay image?
Running theme_ntp_background.png through pngout saves around 400k...FastStone Image Viewer (god I love it) was able to get it 40k smaller again, but Im still no %100 sure it doesn't affect the image at all, pngout definitely doesn't
You have a few files in there you dont use, like thumbs.db
I got it down to 2,789,373 bytes and it looks the same (except the frame which I made slightly darker using the tint)
