Default Different proxy settings for different windows?

    Hi,

I am running chrome 4 on linux. In my travels I have to use a proxy to access pandora.com as it does not work outside the US.

For this I set up an ssh tunnel to my home, creating a socks5 proxy on localhost.

But, when I have opened one window with --proxy-server=127.0.0.1:8080, all subsequent windows, even when opened with --no-proxy-server, will use join that session, and use that proxy, making browsing rather sluggish..

So does anyone know how I could force the new window to open in a new session? I have tried starting it with --incognito, but this does not seperate the session either.

Note: SwitchProxy and other extensions do not work, im guessing they dont filter the traffic coming directly from the flash plugin.

    Thanks,

    Phil

proxy switchy appears to be incompatible with my version of chrome, it just gives:

    Error: Plugin not loaded!

The other proxy extensions out there don't seem to filter the connections made by the flash plugin itself. Im thinking the chrome architecture may mean it isn't possible.

If you want two windows to have different proxys your going to have to make another profile and put the proxy switch in its shortcut.
Heres a thread with some info on creating 2 or more profiles....

    Thanks, you are a genius!

I copied the current user data directory, then pointed the proxied shortcut at the new data directory with --user-data-dir=xxx, complete inter-window isolation, works perfectly!

    Thanks again,

    Phil
