Hullo all,

If you mean the find functionality, Chrome dev version already does that, and has for a while. I forget if it's in stable or not but from your post I'll assume it's not. Look forward to it. :]

If i understand the question correctly, Chrome has always done that ( as far I as can remember ). On Stable and Dev.

Is CTRL + F what you are searching (oh oh, pun ! ) for ?

Plus, the beauty of Ctrl+F it gives you a count of the number of occurrences of your search string (and the one your currently on)... :-D

No, what I'm requesting is a search as you type. That is, search Without ctrl+f. You are on a webpage and want to search for something, then you just start typing and chrome selects/highlights that text. Just like FF has.

...

To be honest, I don't really see the point of such a feature.
For now, I guess you'll have to make do with pressing CTRL+F before you start typing.

That could be accomplished by making a simple extension, no?

By the basic knowledge I have in Javascript, just needs to capture any keys pressed (event), and then show the search box, all with a simple conditional.

Well, I'm not Chrome expert, but I guess this simple feature could be requested in the plugins forum, and imo it's not something essential.

I also did migrate from FF, and infact my FF doesn't have that... Well, sure browsers aren't equal on many things, it's just a matter of getting used to new ways of doing things.

Soon more and more extensions are going to come... it's just a matter of time too

Bit confused as to why you're asking for something that you didn't have !!

To make FireFox exhibit this behavior, check the Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> General -> "Search for text when I start typing" checkbox

I personally like this setting, as it's very intuitive; just start typing for what you want! Also, it will only search when no input fields have focus, so there's no fear of jumping around when entering form data.
